William “Bill” Aagero Hedley passed away peacefully on May 30, 2026, at the age of 84. He will be remembered for his kindness, gentle nature, strong sense of respect, and unwavering belief in the goodness of others.

Bill was born in Seattle, Washington, on September 7, 1941, and grew up in the Lake City neighborhood of North Seattle. A first-generation American, Bill was proud of his family's heritage. His father immigrated from England, while his mother's family came from Norway by way of Canada before eventually settling in the Seattle area. Bill attended Roosevelt High School, graduating in 1959, where his interests included fishing, sports, and cars.

Following high school, Bill worked as a fry cook at Jean’s Drive-In before serving in the United States Navy as an Electronics Technician, Second Class. He later began a long and successful career with Boeing, where he worked for 38 years in a variety of positions before retiring.

Bill found his greatest joy outdoors. He loved fishing, especially at Meadow Lake and Puget Sound, and later along the Nooksack River after he and Dorothy made their home in Deming. Whether boating, traveling, hunting, river rafting, or simply enjoying nature, Bill appreciated life's simple pleasures and the people he shared them with.

Family was at the center of Bill's life. He married Dorothy Hedley and embraced her daughters, Naomi Bacon and Melissa Petersen, as his own. He was a devoted husband, stepfather, and grandfather who led with patience, kindness, and quiet strength. His family remembers him as a true gentleman who never raised his voice, always treated others with respect, and encouraged people to "think about it overnight" before making important decisions.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William J. and Ruth Hedley. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Hedley; stepdaughters, Naomi Bacon (Steven Bacon) and Melissa Petersen (Shane Self); beloved grandchildren, Kyle Harrelle-Morgan (Ashley), Vincent Bacon, and Lillian Petersen; sisters, Glenora Etsell (David) and Nancy Winkler; and many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

An Open House Celebration of Life will be held at the family home on Saturday, August 1, 2026. He will be laid to rest at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington.

Bill’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered with love.
