Sandra "Sandy" Lingbloom

Sandy Lingbloom, a beloved lifelong member of the Whatcom County and Silver Beach community, passed away peacefully at home on August 10, 2024. Born September 16, 1946 in Bellingham, she was the second of seven children born to Ralph and Bernice (Moore) Lingbloom.

Sandy graduated from Bellingham High School and Shaw Secretarial College. She embarked on a successful career at St. Joseph Hospital before spending 27 years at Boeing until her retirement.

Sandy loved growing up in the lake house on Poplar Drive. Lake Whatcom held a special place in her heart, and cherished every moment spent there and was blessed to retire there. Floating and playing in the lake with her family and friends (and beloved dog companion Finnegan) brought her immense joy.

Above all, she cherished her family and friends. Long phone calls and shared meals were her favorite ways to connect, filled with laughter and catching up on everyone's lives.

With a spirit for adventure, Sandy enjoyed traveling, with Hawaii and Indonesia among her favorite destinations. Her love for music was evident, with Rod Stewart and Billy Joel topping her list of favorites. She attended numerous Rod Stewart concerts and even had the thrill of meeting him.

Sandy took great pride in her home, which she loved to decorate with her favorite Asian-inspired pieces. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Tim and Joanne Douglas for their extraordinary care and support, allowing Sandy to remain at her cherished home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Bernice (Moore) Lingbloom; and siblings Wendy Kink, Joey Lingbloom, Jackie Erickson, and Craig Lingbloom.

Sandy is survived by her brothers, Tom and Bill Lingbloom; daughter, Jennifer Dibble; grandchildren Ilea, Chloe, Maia, and Jordan Dibble; niece, Hannah Mezo; great-grandchildren, Jamison Dibble and Phoebe Moncrieff Dibble; and countless cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.

A celebration of Sandy’s life will be held at 1:00pm on Sunday, September 8th at the private beach of 3700 Alabama Street, Bellingham, WA. Please click here to view a map.
