Rem Oy passed away peacefully on October 2, 2026, in Bellingham, Washington, at the age of 82.
Rem was born on July 10, 1944, in Phum Prey, Cambodia. He survived the Khmer Rouge and, as a refugee from Cambodia, made the difficult journey to the United States during the war. His family was sponsored to come to America, and the family is forever grateful to the Russel family of Renton, Washington, for opening their hearts and helping them begin a new life.
Rem was married to his beloved wife, Born Rim, for 63 years. Together, they built a life centered around family, love, and perseverance. He was a devoted father to his three daughters, Donna, Chance, and Linda, and his son, Prok.
Rem enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved fishing, hunting, and picking mushrooms, and he cherished the time he spent with his friends and family. He was happiest when surrounded by the people he loved, sharing good times and making memories. Above all, his grandchildren were his everything. He loved them deeply and took great joy in watching them grow.
Rem leaves behind his beloved wife, Born; daughters Donna, Chance, and Linda; son Prok; and many grandchildren, who will carry his memory and love with them always.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 9 at 1:00 p.m. at Westford Funeral Home in Bellingham.
His life was one of courage, resilience, love, and family. Though he will be deeply missed, the memories he created and the love he gave will remain in the hearts of all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
