Lucie Goodman passed away surrounded by the love of her family on September 30, 2026.
She was born on January 13, 1935, and was lovingly adopted by Kenneth and Norma Schell. Lucie graduated from Sedro-Wooley High School and went on to attend Western Washington College, where she met her beloved husband and adventure partner, John Minta Goodman, whom she married on July 27, 1957. Lucie was a much-loved elementary school teacher in the Bellingham School District for over 30 years.
Lucie’s love of adventure and athletics began early on as a competitive roller skater, where she earned a national title as a teenager. Together, John and Lucie enjoyed snow skiing, waterskiing, and attending as many high school sporting events as humanly possible. Their shared passion for waterskiing was an important part of their lives and community. They founded the Peace Arch Waterski Club on Lake Samish and went on to become pillars of competitive water skiing locally and nationally.
Lucie was preceded in death by her husband, John in 2023.
She is survived by her two sons, Terry (wife Julie) and Ron; grandchildren, Cole and Emily; and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Lucie’s life will be held in the spring of 2027 at Borderline Lake in Blaine. The date of her celebration will be announced at a later time.
