It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of Moy Tai Wong, who was born in Bentong Pahang, Malaysia on February 24, 1941. Moy passed away peacefully on June 20, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones.
Moy attended the Methodist School of College, where she trained to become a teacher. She dedicated her career to educating young minds at LaSalle Elementary School in Malaysia.
Moy was a beloved mother who took good care of her children from a young age and through their adulthood. She continued to extend her unconditional love to her children and her grandchildren throughout their lives.
In 1990, Moy and her late husband, See Hee Tan, made the brave decision to migrate to Canada with their children in hopes of providing them with better educational opportunities.
Moy was a devoted member of the Basel Hakka Lutheran Church in Vancouver, BC. She enjoyed watching television, immersing herself in all kinds of printed materials, and engaging in long conversations with friends over the telephone. Moy had a profound passion for food, particularly Malaysian cuisine, which she loved to share with her family and friends.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband, See Hee Tan. Moy is survived by her daughter Kwee Leng Tan (husband Johnathan Chiang), son Heng Joon Tan (wife Jennifer Chai), daughter Melanie Tan (husband Jeff Lee), son Heng Yong Tan (wife Joey Chu), and daughter Grace Tan (husband Scott McCann).
Moy is also survived by her twelve cherished grandchildren: Justin Tan, Victoria Tan, Jason Tan, Ashley Tan, Oscar Chiang, Ryan Lee, Adam Lee, Oliver Chiang, Kyler Tan, Jaxon McCann, Callie McCann, and Marcus McCann. Additionally, she leaves behind her beloved sisters and brother in Malaysia, as well as her sister in Australia.
Moy will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her dedication to education and Christian, and her vibrant spirit. She touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A funeral service with visitation will be held on Thursday July 11, 2024 at 11:00am at the Chapel of Garden of Gethsemani, 15694 32 Avenue, Surrey, BC. Graveside service to follow. Friends and family are invited to gather and honor the life of Moy Tai Wong.
