With broken hearts, we share the passing of our beloved daughter, Marissa Desirée Guevara, who went to her eternal home on September 15, 2025, at the age of 48, after a courageous battle with depression.

Born in Upland, California, on August 8, 1977, to William and Marta Guevara Jr., Marissa -affectionately called “PeeDee” by her dad - was an imaginative, adventurous, and loving soul. She cherished time outdoors in the Northwest with her children, Joe, Desi, and Ayden; her sister, Danielle; and her dear friend, Dan Kortus. She especially loved quadding, boating, and paddle boarding with her dog, Rocco.

Marissa delighted in travel, especially to Mexico, where she embraced the vibrant traditions of Día de los Muertos. She had an eye for treasures, reselling finds from estate sales and curating a rare collection of vintage glass. Quick to learn and naturally competitive, she brought laughter to family game nights and proudly claimed the title of “Qwirkle Queen.”

Marissa is lovingly remembered by her children, Joseph Guevara, 29, Desirée Mullen, 25, and Ayden Murray, 17; her parents, Bill and Marta Guevara; her sister, Danielle Guevara; her brother, Sam (Amber) Guevara; her nephew, Sammy Guevara; and her niece, Ondine Guevara. She is also survived by her grandmother, Raquel Sandoval, and aunts, uncles, cousins, and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her uncles, Steven Lucero, Thomas Lucero III, Michael Medina Sr., and Frank Guevara.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Christ the King Community Church, 4173 Meridian St, Bellingham, WA, followed by a reception. A celebration of her life, ~ Marissa’s Party ~, will take place on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. at VFW Post 1585, Bellingham, WA.

We love you, PeeDee, Mija, Maris, Ris, Aunty Rissa, Missa… Always in our hearts.
