Kay B. Aker, 88, of Bellingham, Washington, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2026.
Kay was born in April 1938 in Bellingham to Jacob “Jack” and Bernice Aker. A lifelong Bellingham resident, he graduated from Meridian High School in 1956 before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps in 1958.
Kay devoted his life to dairy farming in Whatcom County. He was passionate about farming and, above all, the love and care of animals. His dedication to his work and his deep connection to the land were an important part of who he was.
Kay was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Bernice Aker; and his brother, Denny Aker.
He is survived by his wife, Janene Aker; and his siblings, Jackie Rick, Annette Schenck, Judy Paur, and Janice (Rick) VanderStoep.
Kay will be remembered for his lifelong connection to his community, his dedication to farming, and his genuine love and compassion for animals. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Kay’s memory may be made to the Alternative Humane Society, P.O. Box 2321, Bellingham, WA 98227.
