Ian Joseph Trudell, age 15, passed away on August 10, 2026, in Bellingham, Washington.

Ian was known for being a thoughtful and loyal friend, a fabulous older brother, a deep thinker full of questions, and for his many contributions to his school and the Bellingham community. Ian was a natural athlete who loved being outdoors. He played soccer with Southside and Rangers, served as a referee for local youth soccer games, participated in track and field, and played football for Fairhaven Middle School and Sehome High School.

Born in Marshall, Michigan, Ian moved with his family to Bellingham when he was three years old. His life journey included living abroad in the Netherlands and exploring Europe for six months, where he learned Dutch and developed a love of maps and history. He always dreamed of traveling more and returning to Europe.

Ian is survived by his parents, Daniel and Summer Trudell; his brothers, Noah and Holden Trudell; and a loving extended family.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 29, at 11:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Church, 1400 Larrabee Avenue, Bellingham.

Ian’s kindness and loving spirit left an unforgettable mark on his peers, teammates, and family. He will be deeply missed and always remembered.
