Chuck Browne, age 89, passed away on October 6, 2025, in Bellingham, WA. Chuck was born and raised on the southside of Bellingham and was the second eldest of five siblings.
Chuck enlisted, with friends from high school, in the U.S. Marine Corps as a teen during the Korean War conflict. He spent his enlisted time at Camp Pendleton before being honorably discharged.
He married Betty “Sue” Brewer in 1960, and they shared 57 years together before she passed away in 2017. Before her passing they enjoyed traveling and camping in their RV.
From an early age Chuck worked on or around the water. He loved spending time on the waters of Puget Sound, Alaska, and any river steelhead plied. Early in his life he worked as a commercial fisherman and retired as an engineer from Foss Tug. He deeply appreciated and enjoyed his lifelong friendships, games of all kinds and a good story. His goodwill towards others and sense of humor kept everyone smiling.
Chuck is survived by his loving daughters Laura Sahli and Andrea Browne (Jeff Schmidt); beautiful grandchildren Natalie Sahli (Kieran Lavelle), Wylie Trotter, Zetta Schmidt, and Evie Schmidt; great-grandsons Elias and Westerly Lavelle; and siblings Ron Browne, Cynthia Edwards, and DeeDee Hanson. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty “Sue” Brewer and his sister Marie Hayford.
He is dearly loved and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Heart Association. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025 from 1-3 pm at Squalicum Boathouse, 2600 N. Harbor Loop Dr. Bellingham, WA. All his friends and family are welcome.
