Listen to Obituary
Gary K. Glaze was born in Tacoma, WA to Roland A. and Marjorie K. Glaze. Gary passed peacefully at Whatcom Hospice House, following a relatively short illness. He was predeceased by his parents, including his adoptive mother, Lois Glaze; brothers, David and Ed; grandson, Christopher Glaze; and father-in-law, Herb Doyle.

Gary was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in Seattle and Washington State University, where he earned both undergraduate and graduate degrees. This led to a working life as an educator/counselor in various settings, most recently at the Bellingham Technical Institute from which Gary retired.

Gary was an intelligent, well-read and talented man with many and varied interests. An avid gardener, orchardist, wood-worker, salt water enthusiast, and traveler, Gary was most content enjoying the daily pleasantries of life at his home in rural Whatcom County.

Always a champion for the disadvantaged and less fortunate, Gary demonstrated a strong commitment to organizations that focus on equality, justice and ending hunger insecurity. If you wish to help Gary with this mission, a memorial gift to The Bellingham Food Bank, Whatcom Humane Society or Planned Parenthood would honor him.

Gary's immediate survivors include Pam, beloved wife of 40 years; son and best friend, Mike and wife Kellie; granddaughter Nicole Lingbloom and husband Jon; mother-in-law, Verla Doyle; sisters-in-law, Kim and Yvonne Doyle and Maureen Walum and husband Steve; brother-in-law Jeff Doyle; and canine companion, Raquel.

We who survive Gary are grateful for this kind and humble man and his well-lived life. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

"But tho' an old man, I am but a young gardener."
Thomas Jefferson
