It is with deep love and sorrow that we share the passing of our beautiful mother, Evelyn Drossos Lallas, who left this world peacefully on May 17, 2025, surrounded by the family she cherished. She was everything to us - our heart, our strength, and our greatest joy.
Evelyn was born on July 14, 1933, in Penticton, British Columbia, Canada, the first child of James and Maria Drossos. She was later joined by her beloved siblings, Gracia and Themeos. After living briefly in Vernon and Toronto, she spent her formative years in Vancouver. It was there that 19-year-old Evelyn met the love of her life, Louie. Though he lived in Bellingham, the Greek communities from both cities often gathered for special events — and it was at one of the church dinner dances that their beautiful journey began. They shared 69 glorious years of marriage together.
Evelyn was a woman of extraordinary kindness, sharp wit, and endless love. She had a gift for making people feel seen, heard, and truly cared for. Her laughter could light up a room, and her smile was big, warm, and welcoming. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and an adoring grandmother. Her family was her world, and she gave herself fully and selflessly to the people she loved the most. After devoting years to raising her two children, Evelyn gave the same love and attention to her grandchildren. Spending time with Grandma was always a special time — playful and supportive, and always with a smile. She leaves behind a legacy of grace, elegance, and unwavering love.
Evelyn spent her career in banking, beginning as a Loan Officer at the Bank of Montreal in 1953 and, later, serving as a Bank Manager on the campus of Western Washington University. She had a special place in her heart for students and was known to quietly lend a few extra dollars when someone was short on tuition or lunch money. She truly loved helping young people.
A passionate lover of music, Evelyn especially loved the voice of Frank Sinatra. His song “My Way” was her favorite — a fitting anthem for a woman who lived her life with integrity and authenticity. She truly did it her way. Evelyn also found great joy singing in the choir at St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church, where she was an active member for many years.
Evelyn was everything to us - generous, kind, funny, and just a little mischievous. With a twinkle in her eye and a warm kiss on the hand, she welcomed everyone with a hot cup of coffee and a lively conversation. Always dressed to sparkle, Evelyn shone with inner beauty. The beautiful home she shared with Louie was a place of constant warmth and acceptance — friends and family were always welcome, no invitation needed. Evelyn deeply loved her children and her grandchildren, lovingly calling her five grandsons “The Boys.” Evelyn had a gift for making everyone feel special and taught us to always speak kindly, wear our sparkle proudly, and always slow down to enjoy a good cup of coffee with a loved one.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Maria Drossos; her sister, Gracia Bovis; and her brother, Themeos Drossos.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Louie; her daughter, Helen (Chris); her son, Peter (Jody); and her cherished grandsons, Thomas, James, Jacob, Matthew, and Luke. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, John Lallas; and sister-in-law, Binnie Perper.
We will miss her beyond words — her warm hugs, huge smile, and the way she waved from the door until the last car pulled away. We will miss her beautiful soul.
There will be a Trisagion (prayer service) held on Thursday evening, May 29, at 7:00 p.m., at Westford Funeral Home. Her funeral will be held on Friday, May 30, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church, followed by interment at Bayview Cemetery.
