Donal "Don" Tice

May 10, 1934 — January 31, 2024

Don left his earthly home for his heavenly home on January 31, 2024 after outrunning cancer and a recently weakened heart. Don was born May 10, 1934 in Hugo, Oklahoma to parents Ernest & Pearl. He joined an older brother Paul and sister Earnestine. Eight years later, they were joined by a younger sister, Shirley.

During his life he worked many jobs from TV repair to the oil fields. He served in the U.S. army from 1954-56. He moved to Bellingham in 1959 to follow in his father’s profession of painting. With a partner, Bob Vogel, they started Velvet Touch Painting. He later painted on his own as Don Tice Painting.

He met and married Judy in 1973, joining families with his two sons, Steve and Gary and Judy's sons, Gary and Karl.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Judy, his sons Steve Tice, Gary (Kristy) Tice, Gary (Stacy) Bocek, and Karl (Lea) Bocek, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sister Shirley (Jan) Gregory, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Paul, and sister Earnestine.

Don didn’t want any fanfare, but we couldn’t let him go without honoring him and his life. He was buried at Greenacres Memorial Park at a private family service.

He will be greatly missed by all.
