Claudia Kaye (Wilson) Smith

Claudia Kaye (Wilson) Smith, age 88, passed away on July 15, 2026. She was born on June 13, 1938, in Spokane, Washington, to Fred and Marcella Wilson.

Claudia was a homemaker, held various part-time jobs over the years, and pursued her passions for golf and quiltmaking. She and her husband, Jim, married in 1959, and celebrated 66 years of marriage. They moved many times for Jim’s military and professional career, eventually returning to Spokane after Jim’s retirement. They later moved to Bellingham to be closer to their daughters and grandsons.

Claudia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jim Smith, who passed away on April 22, 2026, as well as by all of her siblings.

She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl (Smith) Daugherty and Glenda Smith; son-in-law, Patrick Daugherty; grandsons, Gabriel and Tobias Smith; sister-in-law, Carol McKinley; nieces, Christy and Kimberley, and their families; niece, Cheryl Galbraith of Spokane; and numerous other nieces, nephews, and friends in Bellingham and on the east side of the state.

Claudia will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother whose family was an important part of her life. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Claudia will be laid to rest with Jim at Fairmount Memorial Park in Spokane, Washington.
