Chan Hughes, born on October 18, 1952, in Lopburi, Thailand, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family.
Chan spent most of her life doing what she loved most—cooking and serving others. She began her culinary career working in kitchens, and one of the proudest chapters of her life was serving and cooking for the United States military at Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany. After moving to the United States, she continued her passion by working in school and college cafeterias, where her warm heart and caring nature touched countless lives.
Faith was an important part of Chan’s life. She loved attending both temple and church, finding comfort and joy in her spiritual community. In her free time, she enjoyed playing bingo, sharing laughter, and spending time with the people she loved most.
Chan’s greatest joy was her family. She adored cooking for them, spending quality time together, and watching her grandchildren grow. She had a heart of gold, always giving, always loving, always putting others before herself. Her warm personality and beautiful smile could light up an entire room. She showed her love not only through the meals she prepared but through her gentle spirit and the kindness she poured into every moment.
Chan is survived by her devoted husband of 38 years, Michael Hughes; her children, Markus Major and Brenda Wedge; and her beloved grandchildren, Ronald Cranor (Tina) and Derek Cranor (Courtney). Her presence will be forever missed, and her love will remain in the hearts of everyone who knew her.
Chan’s life was a beautiful reflection of compassion, faith, and devotion. Though she has left this world, the love she gave remains with us forever.
A private service will be held at a later date.
