Carolyn Joyce Mendenhall, age 78, passed away on May 1, 2025, in Bellingham, WA.
Carolyn was born on December 6, 1946, to her parents Jim and Thelma Boone in White Salmon, WA. She graduated from Western Washington University and started out her career as an English teacher. On July 5, 1969, Carolyn married her husband, Perry Mendenhall, and they spent over 55 years together.
She spent a little over 30 years working for Western Washington University as the return books/stacks Supervisor for the Library. What she loved most was working with college students and helping them to navigate their next phase of life and learning. She was also an avid reader, and loved gardening and tending to her flower beds.
After retirement, Carolyn and Perry would travel in their RV, traveling with friends and family all over the world. She also took up quilting, and spent time helping to serve veterans, including becoming Auxiliary president at the American Legion Post #7.
Carolyn was predeceased by her husband Perry in 2024, and by her parents.
She is survived by her children Amber (Eric) Ogren and Chase (Jeanette) Mendenhall, and her grandchild Connor Mendenhall.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 16th at 11:00am at Bayview Cemetery (1420 Woburn St., Bellingham) followed by a reception at Westford Funeral Home (1301 Broadway, Bellingham).
