- When a death occurs and cremation has been chosen the surviving family, friends or authority call us at (360) 734-1762.
- We remove the deceased from the home, hospital, or other place.
- Upon removal, the deceased is transported to our facility and placed in our shelter and care until required authorizations and paperwork have been completed.
- The deceased is held in temperature controlled facilities or prepared for family viewing.
- The family, friends or authority comes in to prepare final service arrangements and make financial arrangements (in the past years, cremation costs have gone up 10-13% per year) unless the decedent has pre-arranged plan (which freezes your cremation costs).
- The funeral director can assist the family in scheduling any viewing or ceremonies of remembrance that are to occur before cremation, or any post-cremation memorial services, graveside or scattering ceremonies.
- We complete the death certificate filing and notification to Social Security (and the Veterans' Administration if the deceased was a veteran).
- We take death certificate to doctor for cause of death and file with the Health Department. At this time we order certified copies for you.
- Cremation takes place usually 5 to 7 days after death. The actual process of cremation itself normally takes two to three hours. Cremated remains typically weigh several pounds, and take up a space of approximately 150 to 200 cubic inches.
- Afterwards, the cremated remains are placed in the chosen container and are returned to the family or transported to another specified location. If you bury or place the cremated remains in a niche, columbarium or select ground burial, a permanent container is often used.
- Certain circumstances, such as Medical Examiner’s Office, government holiday & weekends could alter this time frame and cremation could take longer to accomplish.
- Our staff is available to 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to meet with you. We are always able to accommodate your family’s schedule.
